About FBS - Letter from Superintendent

Dear Parents,

I grew up in a Christian home and went to a good Bible preaching church every week, but it was not until the age of sixteen that I had the privilege of attending a Christian school. Up until that time, I was educated in the public school system. The decision for me to enroll in a Christian school was not entered into lightly. My parents considered both sides. I did end up going to the Christian school in January of my sophomore year. When I left the public school, I was near the top of my class academically. I had a promising high school tennis career, having started on the varsity squad since the 8th grade. I had many friends, was well-liked by my teachers and was well established in the high school band. But my parents and I knew that something was missing. My parents made the decision, and I am glad for it. I ended up graduating from that Christian school a few years later, and today, nearly three decades later, I am so thankful for that cold January day when I began attending New Ulm Christian School.

I believe there are many choices of education for children today. The Bible says to parents in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." I believe this verse speaks to why we have a Christian school. We want parents to have a choice. For parents who choose to "train up their child" in a way that follows a path of godliness and God's will, then First Baptist Church is a safe choice.

It is my privilege to be the superintendent of First Baptist School. I want to encourage you parents to consider God's will and your children's education. I want you to consider what is best, as my parents did thirty years ago, and now as my wife and I have done for two decades (both of our children have graduated from First Baptist School).

If I can be of any help to you in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely yours for the children,

Dr. David Clear
