Academics - Preschool

Our K4 program lays the foundation for your child's early school experience. One of the main purposes of our K4 is to prepare your child for the 5-year-old kindergarten program in our school. It is a relaxed, fun environment, in which your child can adjust to the schedule, routine, and discipline of a regular classroom. K4 is an all day program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It is a good social experience for a child as he learns to share, make friends, and get along with others.

K4 (Kindergarten for 4-year-olds)

BIBLE We have a Bible time in which we sing songs, listen to Bible stories, and learn Bible verses. Our goal is to build Christian character into a child's life.
PHONICS/READING Students are exposed to the letters and their sounds. Those ready to learn the sounds and begin reading are encouraged to do so; those not ready have a productive year of exposure to concepts they will master later.
PENMANSHIP The students will receive guidance in learning how to write their first name. They will also be directed in how to form each letter of the alphabet.
MATH The children will be introduced to the numerals 1-20. They will work on recognition, writing, and numbering of objects. They will orally count as far as possible by ones and tens to 100. The students should be able to recognize the basic shapes.
ART The children will be taught the eight basic colors, and introduced to the color words. They will be encouraged to color neatly and do their best. They will be guided in learning the best way to hold scissors through easy-to-cut art projects. They will have an opportunity to work with clay, finger paints, and tempera paints.
OTHER ACTIVITIES The children will be learning about the calendar and seasons. We will cover a unit on good manners and good health habits. The children will be encouraged to be responsible, and they will learn to organize their belongings.
