Academics - General

Students at First Baptist School receive a solid, academic education that is Bible-based.

Bible is taught daily because direction for everyday living is found in its pages. There is no other book which can enrich the mind and heart and prepare students for life as the Word of God.

Patriotism, the love and support of a person for his country, is stressed at FBS. We seek to create an appreciation for the traditions of our country. Respect for authority on all levels will be taught. Our students will regularly recite pledges to the American flag, Christian flag, and the Bible.

The academic environment that students would be accustomed to at First Baptist is that of a traditional, Christian education that utilizes a regular classroom with a teacher in charge of the class. The controlled atmosphere by the teacher in charge is business-like, yet student-friendly and helpful, where students may receive extra instruction when needed. Each student's schedule demands the daily attention of their core classes of Bible, English, Math, Science and History.

Academics at First Baptist is a challenge. In the very early elementary, a strong emphasis is placed on the phonetic approach to learning. An emphasis is placed on the "readin', writin' and arithmetic" of education. The core classes continue to challenge the student throughout middle school and high school as well as a balance of elective classes of which students are able to be part. Seatwork in the elementary and homework in the secondary is given daily to the students.
